Douglas Fir Facts
Douglas Fir is a species of evergreen with several unique properties. Being a softwood, it is easy to propagate and
fast growing. Our poles come from suppressed growth, those trees growing under larger trees, starved for sunlight. They grow very slowly and produce a stronger, more durable pole.
It is one of the most prolific
species in the Northwest, and very popular as a building material. Pole sized trees are routinely removed in thinning operations, so our raw materials have little impact on our current forest problems.
